I moved to Ventura California in 1986, with my 2 girls, April and Angela. My marriage had ended. One day, while waiting for the girls to get out of school, I was sitting in my car. A guy comes up to me and said I think I know you. I smiled and said, “That’s the worst pick up line ever”. I said, you couldn’t possibly know me, we just moved here. He said, No Really! Did you used to live in Rockford IL? I said yes, as my jaw is dropping. He said on Shaw Street? I said yes, now I’m getting creeped out. He said you had a friend Karen? Oh man, I’m thinking WHAT? How does he know this, I was 8 at that time. Now I’m 28. He recognized me. I was in shock!
He proceeded to tell me, he was dating her older sister Janice, who was in college at the time, and they would watch us play while they were hanging out at her Moms. I was floored by that, and what was really funny, he wanted to know if Karen and I were still friends because he’d like to hook back up with Janice again. Unfortunately, the family had moved away, and I’m still hoping to find her someday, on Facebook or something.
Bill Pratt and I were friends from that point on till he moved away. I’d like to catch up, if he ever comes across my path again.
Another time Bryan and I are walking in a shopping district down in Orlando Florida and I’m looking and I see Lee and Carol Thaxton, the people we bought our current house from in Arkansas, walking toward us! I was so excited, all I could say was OMG, OMG, and point, and she was doing the same thing on her end. That night was so much fun. It still brings a smile to my face when I think about it! They moved to Tampa FL and it had been a long time since we had seen them.
Another time, in Ohio, at the Great Wolfe Lodge, during a Towing Convention, I was introduced to Wanda and Jack Frew. They had driven up from Kentucky to talk to Bryan. We broke away from the guys. Boring!! In talking, we had a lot in common. We both were health conscience and comparing what vitamins we were taking. I was starting my journey on losing weight. Yes, I was like a yoyo. I think with the water, I can finally maintain this weight. Anyway, it turned out she lived a couple of blocks away from where I grew up in Rockford and we never knew it! Shortly afterwards they had made a trip to Rockord and sent me pics of the houses I used to live in. Funny as a kid, the houses are like in your rear view mirror, larger then they truly are. Lol Wanda and Jack have become friends and come up to stay in our “TowMate Inn”. A beautiful spot on the lake, we have for company vendors and family to stay at when they visit. (Not open to the public) so if you’re wanting to stay there, you better figure out how to become my new best friend. (Just Kidding) Payment in hugs only, but back to the magnets…
I went to my first Kangen Water meeting put on by my Upline last night. I had told them when I got my machine I would never go to a meeting! Ha ha, never say never!
When I walked in, Linda was so excited to see me, and introduced me to everyone. It was very nice. Then in walks Deonna, who, her and her husband Steve were in the motorcycle club we were in years prior and had lost touch.
My plan for the evening, was to attend a webinar put on by Rhonda Gessner, who is an awesome Kangen Water distributor who I friended on Facebook. Don’t think for a minute that friendships can’t be made on Facebook because I’m here to tell you, they absolutely can. If you take interest in others, they will do the same, most of the time, and the ones that don’t, you wouldn’t want anyway.
The magnet affect doesn’t happen that often, but I’m greatful when it does. I personally feel like God leads every step of way. All we need to do is listen to the small voice inside that helps guide us on this path called life.
People are what truly matter in this life and since writing my last post, I have lost two family friends. Two weeks or so ago. Sherrie just turned 50, newly married, just adapted a son she so desperately wanted and loved, died in her sleep. They were having a service on Sunday evening in Arkansas. Gale, her Mom, had a massive stroke that morning. They continued on with the service as planned. We went to see Gale in the hospital afterwards. She could still communicate and I was joking and kidding around with her. The next day, she couldn’t speak, but could let you know she was listening by the crack of a smile or a grunt in the appropriate time. Gale died in her sleep the next morning. Mother and daughter will be missed.
This family lost their father/husband Dick, 5 years ago. In thinking about it, that’s how we came to know Deonna and Steve, was through Dick and Gale and the motorcycle club.
Do you see why I think people are like magents?
I told Robin, the surviving daughter, if one more person dies, I’m going to kill them. We have a lot in common now.
Enough is enough. Life is short, enjoy life and each other.
